lyrics

Wake up and find your city lost. Try to muscle out of bed.
Flex your hands, remind yourself about the plan, count down from ten.
Get your pipes and chains. Try to remember what is good from bad.
Get your mask on. Walk out the door to get the task done.

This is a necessary evil for the good, at least that's what they say.
And they remind you of the debt you owe about every single day.
Some people find purpose in loss. Some people put their faith in God.
What are you gonna cling to for safety when the lights go off?

Kick open the door. Wrestle the man to the ground.
Tie his hands and legs with chains and then go straight into the back room.
Take out a can of paint. Scrawl the writing on the wall:
"Nobody is safe, protect the ones you love."

This is a necessary public service for the good ones left.
And they are slimming in number by the minute as the lynch pins bend.
Some people find purpose in loss. Some people put their faith in God.
What are you gonna cling to for safety when the lights go off?
